Art of the WoodZ
Mark Zimmerman is a woodturner who uses a lathe to create platters, natural-edged and traditional bowls, vases, and lidded boxes from hardwoods like ash, cherry, maple and walnut. He often embellishes his pieces with colored dyes, acrylic paints, wood burnings, and stained glass.
“With each new log, I begin to unlock the unique grain patterns and features of the bowl or platter that I’m turning. You never know what you’ll find.”
Mark is a retired scientist, Vice President of the Apple Valley Woodturners club in Winchester, Virginia and a member of the American Association of Woodturners and the Shenandoah Arts Council.
Mark sells his work primarily through custom orders and at art shows like Art At The Mill in Millwood, Virginia. He can be reached by phone at 540-247-8721 or by email at mbzimmerman@comcast.net.
