Elise has always been interested in painting and drawing as early as the age of eight. It was at this age when her mother gave her an oil painting set. Her mother always encouraged her drawing and painting. She experimented with many different media, but found that oil was, at that point in time, the best for her. She ignored watercolor because she didn’t understand it. About 10 years ago, she took a class at the local community college in watercolor which totally changed her view of how she could create art. She is an impressionist and follows a lot of the rules set by Monet and Manet. She paints landscapes and seascapes mainly. She still paints with oil, but the majority of her current work is watercolor. She always uses museum glass as it protects the colors and is non-reflective. The majority of her work is done from photographs that she has taken. This allows her to replicate what she sees at that particular moment in time due to the light and changing weather, she then has a constant to go by. She does paint animals for people if they request it and will paint just about anything else that is requested with the understanding that it is painted with her style. She currently does not paint people, but plans on starting that in the near future.
