Jenny Abrams

I am a plein air painter. Most of my work is done “alla prima,” although sometimes I complete a painting in the studio. I primarily paint landscapes and flowers.

I paint mostly in Virginia and North Carolina, where I live and spend much of my time. I paint predominantly with oil or gouache, but have recently begun to play around with acrylics.

I received most of my formal art training from various instructors at Beverly Street Studio School in Staunton, VA. But I have found the practice of painting frequently, often with the fellowship of like-minded artists, has also been enlightening.

The more I paint, the more the colors become familiar tools. Virginia and North Carolina provide a never-ending source of beauty and subject. In my painting, I attempt to capture these for others to see and experience.

When I’m not painting, I contract to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on projects that support the Clean Air Act.
