Scott's art captures that which is beautiful and edifying. He paints anything that he might want to put on the walls of his own house. He began painting as a young boy under the instruction of the many painters in his family. As a tot, his mother put charcoal sticks and newsprint in front of him and taught him to draw circles, then faces, then torsos, and so on. He was also influenced by his great aunt who was a professional painter known for her depictions of "old Florida." He began receiving awards for his paintings 50 years ago. He is now retired to a maple syrup, vegetable, wine-grape farm in the Virginia highland mountains where he spends his non-farming hours painting. His vast swath of experiences in life are occasionally reflected in his paintings. At some point in life he has been, in alphabetical order, an artist, author (published), baseball hitting instructor, electrical engineer, farmer, lawyer, and church planter.
