Although always interested in art and a persistent doodler, my first attempt at true art occured in 1995 during recovery from surgery. I loved watching Bob Ross and purchased a "kit" that included canvas, paints, and brushes. Since then, I have continued to paint when time was available. Very quickly my paintings needed to include people and eventually I turned to portraiture. I enjoy trying to paint beyond likeness and seek to capture character. I enjoy painting formal portraits, but save room for painting candid scenes of people doing something they enjoy such as playing music. I paint in acrylics and oils depending on what I intend to portray and how I want to accomplish it.
