Art is a relatively new hobby for Kathy. It is a means of observing and expressing her view of the world around her. Kathy finds art to be relaxing and an avenue to which she is learning and making new friends. Pastel is her main medium, but she can also paint with acrylics, water colors, guasche, and colored pencils. She has also dabbed in oil painting.
Starting from scratch, Kathy began her art journey when she enrolled in a beginner art class at Carroll Community College back in 2015. Since then, she has taken several classes both at the college and online and has participated in many workshops. She likes to paint all subjects; whichever suits her mood for the moment.
Kathy is an active member of the Sykesville Painting Club and serves on the Board of Directors. She directs an annual art show at the Merritt Athletic Club, as a collaboration between art and the gym in the Sykesville community.
Kathy affiliates as an Artist member of the Maryland Pastel Society. A few of her paintings nave been juried into exhibits through this organization.
