Gleaning inspiration from the vibrancy and whimsy of everyday life, Heather Barker's focus in making art is simply to warm hearts and spread sunshine in an often grey world. Her primary subjects are found in nature, from bees and cosmos to squirrels and sea turtles, with the occasional step into the world of sweet treats like coffee and cookies. Heather finds her love of detail and realism best expressed in colored pencils and graphite, and works to give a full, smooth look to her pieces that make their values pop. She is a member of the Shenandoah Arts Council and VECCA.
